A Valentine’s Day to remember!

Fun Valentine’s photography from Venture Studios

As the pandemic continues, many people are facing the prospect of a second birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion either in lockdown or under other Covid-related restrictions.

And of course one celebration that is fast approaching is Valentine’s Day.

However you like to celebrate Valentine’s Day, things will be very different this year. In a way, perhaps it’s something of a relief that you are not able to book the overpriced restaurant meal or spend hours trawling from shop to shop hunting down the perfect card or elusive gift.

But that shouldn’t mean that Valentine’s Day is a non-event. In fact, whether you are partnered or single, and whether or not you usually do anything for Valentine’s Day, perhaps this year we should all do our best to make it a fun celebration day for everyone. We could certainly do with some light relief during these dark days.

So in this article we’ll take a look at:

Five fun ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day

Whether you are on your own, coupled up, or in any other family situation, we hope that one or more of the ideas below will bring a little bit of happiness and joy into your Valentine’s Day this year:

1. Get dressed up

Yes we know there’s nowhere to go. But remember how good it feels to get dressed up for a special occasion, or a casual night out with the gang, or even just for work! If those days seem like a distant memory then put on your favourite outfit – whatever it is – and ensure that hair, makeup etc is also suitably done. You will feel so much better for doing so and, on a positive note, your clothes will stay much cleaner than they would if you went out in them . . . .

2. Stuff your face

No diets today! Treat yourself to whatever you really enjoy eating or drinking. Just because you can. If you don’t want to cook, then see if any local pubs or restaurants are offering a delivery or click-and-collect survive. Many large restaurants are also offering complete meal kits that you can order in advance online and have delivered to your door.

3. Enjoy the show

If you miss going out to the theatre or cinema or live music gigs, then browse around online and you will find a wealth of opportunities available. There are a wide variety of all kinds of shows and gigs either being live streamed or already recorded. Just check out your favourite venue(s) to see what is available. If you love a good movie, then check your streaming services as many new movies are now being released direct to these whilst cinemas are closed.

4. Create something beautiful

If you are feeling mellow and reflective this Valentine’s Day, then take the opportunity to create something beautiful, just for you. This may be something that you can already do well, or something completely new that you have always wanted to try. Whatever it is, there are bound to be online resources to help you get going. So whether you want to have a go at painting, jewellery making, crochet, card making or anything else at all, gift yourself the time to do just that this Valentine’s Day.

5. Catch up with friends

Even if you do a lot of video conferencing for work, it can still be a fun way to spend an evening with friends. Nor does it have to be restricted to chat, you could do a variety of activities together, including wine tasting, cocktail making, quizzes, games – to name but a few. The choice is yours!

Tips for the best Valentine’s Day photography

Whatever you decide to do on Valentine’s Day, you really do need some photos. You will hopefully never again experience a Valentine’s Day during lockdown, so make sure you capture the memories to look back on in the future.

Whether you are on your own or with others, a great way to do this is by taking a few selfies. Our article The Perfect Selfie Angle contains lots of tips on how to take a good selfie, and also includes our helpful lockdown video Doorstep Family Selfies.

At Venture Studios we also have a fantastic Valentine’s photography offer for you. Our special Valentine Gold voucher includes a fabulous one hour photoshoot plus a framed image of your choice, mounted in one of our stylish hand-made Gallery or Metro frames.

The voucher would normally cost £95 but you can purchase it until Valentine’s Day at the special price of £66. The voucher is valid for 6 months from the date of purchase so there will be plenty of time to come and visit your nearest Venture Studios once our studios reopen later in the year.
