Celebrating Marriage
In our last article we reflected on the importance of the older generation and how important it is to spend time together creating happy memories with the older members of our families.
In the article we also marvelled at the fact that the Queen is not only about to celebrate her 91st birthday but that she has been on the throne for 66 years. Not only that, but last November she and Prince Philip celebrated their Platinum anniversary – 70 years of marriage!
So what are the essential ingredients for such a long enduring marriage? Over the years the Queen and Prince Philip have both mentioned various aspects of their marriage in interviews and speeches. Some of these can be summarised as follows:
- Loving each other without judgement
- Being committed to each other and to the family
- Being a constant strength and support to each other
- Being tolerant of each other: at times agreeing to differ
- Giving each other space to pursue different interests
- Sharing a sense of humour
Hopefully as Harry and Meghan prepare for their wedding at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, in May they will be able to reflect on the success of this enduring royal marriage and take on board some of the advice and wisdom from the older generation.
If you or your older family members are fortunate to be happily married – especially if the marriage has lasted for many years – then perhaps now is the time to celebrate. In the run up to the royal wedding on 19th May why not plan some celebrations of the important marriages in your family?
There are many ways you can celebrate. You may want to throw a large party for all your family and friends, or may prefer a smaller, more intimate, dinner party. Perhaps a weekend away would fit the bill; or how about recreating your very first date? Some people also like to formalise a significant anniversary by organising a church ceremony to renew their wedding vows.
However you celebrate, you will also want to have something tangible to keep; a significant reminder of these happy times that you can enjoy for years to come. At Venture Studios we would love to provide that for you!
We offer a comprehensive range of photography experiences which would be suitable for either just the celebrating couple or for a larger family portrait. Either way, we promise that the experience will be enjoyable and fun for all involved.
As well as the photoshoot itself, the experience includes a personal cinematic viewing of the resulting images, and your choice of photograph to take away, beautifully framed.
To find out more about our range of photography experiences, take a look at our website. You can also book your experience direct online or by calling your nearest branch of Venture Studios. It would be our privilege to help you celebrate your marriage in a right royal manner!
