We are making history! | Family photography of Covid-19
Creating your memorable family photography recording your Covid-19 experience…
In Queen Elizabeth’s recent address to the nation she used the following words:
“I hope in the years to come everyone will be able to take pride in how they responded to this challenge. And those who come after us will say the Britons of this generation were as strong as any.”
As we plod along through our daily lives in lockdown, it is important to remember that we are making history. Covid-19 is rapidly becoming the largest pandemic for several decades, and certainly the first in living memory for many of our readers.
Not only that, but the global nature of media and social media ensures that we are all aware not only of what is happening in the UK but also around the world. We are all in this together.
That is some comfort in these difficult days. And there are so many examples of people showing the strength referred to by the Queen, despite our lives being turned upside down in so many ways. A strength that we can indeed be proud of.
But coming back to making history. The Queen referred to “those who come after us”. They will learn about this period of time in their history lessons in school. The Covid-19 pandemic of 2020 will never be forgotten. So we need to make sure that we are documenting our lives through this period for the benefit of those who come after us.
UNESCO ( United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation) have released a statement saying that “it is essential that we ensure that a complete record of the COVID-19 pandemic exists, so that we can prevent another outbreak of this nature or better manage the impact of such global events on society in the future.”
So, whilst there may well be things that we would prefer to forget, it is up to all of us to capture and preserve memories of this time for the future. There are many organisations already beginning to compile documentation and photos about life in Covid-19, so the more we all collate this information, the more resources will be available to them in years to come.
At Venture Studios we have come up with the idea of you and your family making a time capsule, for your future selves to look back on and remember a time that the whole world experienced something together.
As part of this we have prepared a journal for you and your family to document your daily lives during Covid-19. This Venture 2020 Stay at Home Journal is a place to record and save moments from your Covid-19 experience.
The journal includes sections on:
- All about me
- My community
- How I’m feeling
- Staying safe at home
- Special occasions
- Letter to myself
- Rainbows
- Social distancing
- Interview with my parents
- Letter from my parents
- Best Bits picture gallery – plenty of room for all your family photography
Plus some great ideas about other memorabilia to save from this time.
So why not download your free Venture 2020 Stay at Home Journal and over the next few days and weeks take the time to fill in the journal. Also start collecting together items that are significant to you at the moment, and which represent your life during lockdown. Then put everything in a box, seal it, and choose a future date for it to be opened.
Fast forward to that future date, and you will be able to look back on the memories of this time. It will then be history, and you will have the huge advantage of knowing how the story ended. But hopefully you will be able to take pride in how you responded to this challenge, and realise that you were indeed part of a generation that was as strong as any.
