Dog Treats – Commands like ‘sit’, ‘stay’ and ‘rollover’ etc. always seem to be easier if your dog knows they will be rewarded with a treat for their efforts. So having some dog treats with you can help to keep your dog still and focused, ideal states for them to be photographed in! If your pet has a particular treat that they love, you may even want some photographs of them enjoying it as it is true to their personality and makes for some nice photos of them in their element enjoying themselves!

Dog Toys – Quite similar to the above, having their toys with them can also be a help. If they are excited to be in the new space of our photo studios, they can expend some of their energy by playing with their favourite toys for a few minutes. You may want photos of them playing with them (these make for great candid shots!) or even like with their treats, you can hold their toy up and as they look longingly at it before you throw it, our photograph can capture their loving gaze while they are waiting still.

Radio / Music – As the photography studio will be a new environment for them, having some music or the radio playing in the background can help to drown out any background noises that may distract them. We will always allow for the initial few minutes when your dog enters the studio to let them have a sniff around and get used to their surroundings and we find that having a consistent noise at all times in the background can help them settle into the space without the distraction of any other noises they may pick up.

Collars and Leads – Some people like to photograph their dogs wearing their collar as that is how they are so used to seeing them. They may also choose to bring a new or special collar that they think will photograph well as it may contrast with their dog’s fur colour. As an extension of that, their dog being walked on their lead can also make a nice image as the lead can add a pop of colour to the composition and the dog goes into a stronger more active position as it is being ‘walked’ around the studio space.
